A Chandigarh court has issued bailable arrest warrants against owners of Kings XI Punjab for not following court orders of presenting in the court for the case filed against them by Company Registrar. Owners against who arrest warrant has been issued includes Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia. Although, another owner Karan Paul remained present in the court for hearing.
Earlier, Registrar of Companies (ROC) filed the case in the court against Kings XI Punjab for not filing the Annual returns as necessary by Company Act, 1956.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) JS Sidhu of Chandigarh hearing the case of ROC, ordered police to arrest them. The next hearing has been fixed on October 04, 2010.
In our complaint against Kings XI Punjab “we had submitted that the Kings XI Punjab franchise had not filed any annual return and balance sheet since it came into existence,” Gaurav Hooda, counselor for the Registrar of Companies, said.
Reacting to Media news, Preity Zinta tweeted, “I have since learn that no arrest warrant have been issued in my name. My legal team is looking further into the matter”.
